An Alternative Perspective on the Design of Audi and BMW
Modern automotive design is increasingly focusing on lighting, transforming ordinary headlights into true artistic elements. Recently, Audi and BMW have been actively experimenting with split headlights, which has sparked controversy among car enthusiasts. Digital artist Nikita Chuiko offered an alternative perspective by reimagining the design of these cars towards a more classic execution.
In his works, Chuiko combined the LED daytime running lights with the main headlights, removing the upper elements. This solution gave the cars a more restrained and harmonious look. The Audi Q6 e-tron and A6 e-tron look particularly interesting, where the brand’s traditional sharp lines have become even more pronounced.
Public Reaction and the Future of Design
One commentator noted that the new design emphasizes the “cheeks” of the car instead of the traditional “eyes”.
The publication of Chuiko’s works caused an ambiguous reaction. Many highly appreciated the attempt to return to classicism, while others believe that automakers should continue to experiment. BMW is already preparing a new design concept for future Neue Klasse models, which promises to combine modern technology with elements of the brand’s historical heritage.
