Northern Trials Confirm: New Gordon Murray V12 Supercar Remains Unstoppable

New GMA T.33 Supercar Undergoes Testing in Extreme Conditions

Over four years after its presentation, the second road model from Gordon Murray Automotive is still in deep development. However, the T.33 supercar is nearing the moment of delivery to customers, as confirmed by recent footage from trials. Three car prototypes were tested in low-temperature conditions near the Arctic Circle.

The car, which will be sold in coupe and convertible versions, continues the philosophy laid down in the T.50 model — Gordon Murray’s modern interpretation of the McLaren F1. Its heart is a naturally aspirated 3.9-liter V12 from Cosworth. Although future owners are unlikely to drive these supercars in the snow, testing in extreme winter conditions helps engineers ensure that the T.33 is ready for any challenges.

Owners will probably never venture into the snow in their supercars, but testing in extreme winter conditions will help GMA guarantee that the T.33 can survive anything its owners decide to throw at it.

Design Features and On-Road Behavior

In the video, three T.33 cars are driving in a group without camouflage, accompanied by engineers. Being rear-wheel drive, the supercar, even on winter tires, experiences certain difficulties transmitting power to the snowy surface. This video also allowed for the first look at the active rear spoiler in action, which is a small element that rises or lowers as needed.

The foundation of the T.33 is a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque, double-wishbone suspension on all wheels, and high-performance carbon-ceramic brakes from Brembo. Unlike the T.50, which manages without power steering, the T.33 will receive hydraulic power steering.

The Supercar’s Heart: Power and Dynamics

The car’s powertrain is the famous high-revving naturally aspirated V12 from Cosworth.

These figures may not seem impressive on paper, but the expected weight of the T.33 is less than 1100 kg. This power-to-weight ratio will allow it to effectively compete with much more powerful rivals.

Those numbers may not seem extreme on paper, but the T.33 is expected to weigh less than 1100 kg, which should make it more than fast enough to keep up with significantly more powerful competitors.

Limited Production and Future Prospects

Worldwide production of the T.33 coupe will be limited to just 100 units. GMA also plans to release an additional 100 units in the Spider version. Important news for the market is that the T.33 has received homologation for sale in the USA. Furthermore, a slightly more race-focused, track-oriented version called the T.33 S is already under development.

The work on the T.33 demonstrates the search for a balance between extreme performance and everyday usability, which remains Gordon Murray’s signature style. Arctic testing underscores the seriousness of the reliability approach, even for cars of this class. The limited production and attention to detail, such as individual tuning of the power steering, indicate an orientation towards true driving enthusiasts, for whom feel and purity of concept are often more important than absolute numbers on the spec sheet.
