New Hyundai Ioniq 6 N Could Cost Significantly More Than Expected
Buyers in the US might be in for a surprise: the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 N is likely to cost significantly more than expected. Instead of competing with the Tesla Model 3 Performance on price, it may end up in the same category as the Ioniq 5 N. In South Korea, the model is estimated at approximately 77 million won (about $55,000), but considering the markup in the US, its price could reach $68,000.
This might come as a surprise, as the regular version of the Ioniq 6 is almost $5,000 cheaper than the Ioniq 5. It was expected that the sports version would also be more affordable. However, despite the higher price, the Ioniq 6 N offers a power output of 641 hp (in N Grin Boost mode), an 84 kWh battery, and a more sporty setup than the Tesla.
Comparison with Tesla Model 3 Performance
At $68,000, the Ioniq 6 N becomes significantly more expensive than the Tesla Model 3 Performance ($54,990). Although Hyundai has an advantage in power (131 hp more), the Tesla is still slightly faster in accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (3.1 seconds vs. 3.2 seconds for the Ioniq 6 N).
However, for those who value driving thrill and emotion behind the wheel, the Ioniq 6 N could be a more interesting option. Its engineering is focused on driving pleasure, not just acceleration figures. It is worth noting that the market for fast electric vehicles is becoming increasingly diverse, and Hyundai is betting precisely on the emotional component, not just price competition.
