An Abandoned Hotel in Macau and Its Luxury Cars
In 2016, the authorities in Macau closed one of the region’s most luxurious hotels after discovering numerous safety violations, as well as accusations of drug trafficking, armed violence, and unclear connections of the owners. Once a symbol of elite tourism, the hotel has transformed into a eerie time capsule, preserving traces of its past luxury.
Instead of reconstruction, repurposing, or demolition, the building was left frozen in time, untouched since its closure, including a fleet of premium-class cars that once transported guests in luxury.
Forgotten Grandeur
The most expensive of these cars remained near the hotel’s main entrance, among them — three long-wheelbase Rolls-Royce Phantoms. Although some have broken windows and graffiti, locals do not seem to have attempted to strip them for parts, which is quite unexpected. Given sufficient funds, they could probably be restored.
Parked next to the three Rolls-Royces at the entrance is an old Mercedes-Benz S-Class, covered in a thick layer of dirt and dust.
Other Finds
These are not the only vehicles left unattended. Numerous vehicles are also located in the hotel’s parking lot. Over a dozen Toyota Alphards can be seen there, which were likely used by the hotel as shuttle buses. Among other models, several Audis, a Porsche Cayenne, and several cars hidden in the dim light of the underground garage stand out. There, the blogger found a white Dodge Charger limousine next to a white Audi A8.
Deeper inside the premises, hidden, is perhaps the most impressive find — an elongated Hummer H2 limousine, capable of carrying up to eighteen passengers.
Exploring the Hotel
A blogger, known under the pseudonym Exploring the Unbeaten Path, recently visited this place and discovered a real treasure trove of cars left to rot. His adventures in the abandoned hotel are divided into three parts, and although only one is dedicated to the cars, the others are also worth attention. He visited some of the hotel rooms, laundry areas, and even a small cafeteria where snacks are still sealed in their original packaging.
Exploring such objects reminds us of the temporariness of luxury and rapid changes in society. Abandoned buildings and cars often become symbols of economic or social upheavals, and their existence without proper care only emphasizes the importance of stability and responsible management. Similar stories also raise questions about how property loses its value and whether its revival is possible in the future.
