Polestar Announces New Electric Crossover, Which Will Be Developed Alongside an Unknown Volvo Model

Polestar and Volvo Have Announced New Models

Polestar has released a teaser of the future Model 7, which will arrive in 2028. It will be a premium compact electric crossover, likely built on the new SPA3 platform. Production will begin at the Volvo plant in Slovakia, where a new Volvo model will also be manufactured.

The company has not yet disclosed details but confirmed that the Polestar 7 will use Volvo’s technological base, including the latest batteries and electric motors. However, there will also be unique solutions that will provide the driving dynamics characteristic of Polestar.

“Collaborating with Volvo on the Polestar 7 is a unique opportunity to strengthen our position in the European market,” stated Polestar CEO Michael Loscheller.

New Volvo Crossover

Before the arrival of the Polestar 7, Volvo plans to release its own next-generation electric crossover. Large-scale production is expected to begin in early 2027. Both models will use a shared technological base, including the SPA3 platform.

The plant in Košice, where these cars will be produced, will cost $1.4 billion and will be able to produce up to 250,000 cars per year. This will become Volvo’s third production site in Europe.

The joint projects of Polestar and Volvo continue to demonstrate the effectiveness of the partnership – previous collaboration has already led to the successful release of the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 models. This new stage of development includes not only technological innovations but also an expansion of the production geography, which will allow both brands to strengthen their presence in key markets. Particular attention is paid to European buyers, for whom localized production could mean more affordable prices and faster delivery times.
