Polestar, which three years ago confirmed the launch of the O2 Concept roadster under the name Polestar 6, has now changed its priorities. Unfortunately, the release of this electric car is being postponed as the brand focuses on models that are expected to have significantly higher sales volumes.
One of the key novelties will be the Polestar 7 crossover. Company CEO Michael Losheller noted that this model will have a wider audience compared to existing offerings. The Polestar 7 will be produced at the Volvo plant in Slovakia and will receive technological support from Volvo, as well as in-house developed electric motors.
He is also confident that the smaller-sized Polestar 7 will attract more women to the brand, as currently the majority of customers are men.
The design of the Polestar 7 will resemble traditional SUV forms, but at the same time, the model will have unique features that will help it stand out. The company aims to create a car perfectly tailored to the European market, which currently accounts for 75% of the brand’s total sales.
In addition, Polestar is preparing the second generation of the Polestar 2 model, which is currently the most popular in the lineup. Although details about the update remain unknown, the new version is expected to be even more competitive in the market.
The increasing competition in the electric vehicle sector is forcing manufacturers to find new ways to attract customers, and Polestar is no exception. Focusing on models oriented towards the mass market may help the brand increase its presence and solidify its position among the leading electric car manufacturers. The Polestar 7, with its focus on the European market and collaboration with Volvo, could become a key player in the company’s future strategies.
