Police Officer Pleaded with Corvette Driver to Stop Before Gently Sending It into the Ditch

Chase of a Stolen Corvette in Arkansas

Arkansas police pursued a stolen Corvette whose driver attempted to flee during a traffic stop attempt. Despite numerous demands from the officer to stop, the driver continued moving. The chase ended with a controlled PIT maneuver, after which the car flew into a ditch.

As reported, the patrol officer heard a broadcast about the stolen Corvette and headed to US Highway 63. Initially, the driver stopped but then abruptly began to flee, ignoring police commands. The chase continued at speeds over 120 miles per hour. Interestingly, the officer openly expressed a desire not to damage the car during the pursuit.

“I don’t want to damage someone’s car,” said patrol officer Zachary Pascal.

Unconventional Police Approach

Instead of immediately stopping the Corvette with an aggressive maneuver, the officer attempted to persuade the driver to stop via loudspeaker, even addressing her by name. However, the driver, identified as Sarah, continued her escape. As a result, police used a controlled impact, after which the woman was detained.

She is currently facing a number of charges, including auto theft, driving without a license, and reckless driving. This case has sparked discussions about whether police should more often avoid aggressive stopping methods, especially when it comes to stolen vehicles. The incident also raises questions about whether a car’s status influences law enforcement actions.

Police records of the pursuit show an unusual balance between professional duty and a humane attitude towards property. Similar situations could become an example for discussing law enforcement tactics in the future.
