Police Blocked Over 100 Cars at a Car Enthusiasts’ Meetup
In San Francisco, police used an unusual tactic during a nighttime car enthusiasts’ gathering. Officers blocked over 100 cars in a parking lot and conducted checks on each one. According to them, this was related to illegal “sideshow activities,” even though the event did not take place on a public road.
A police spokesperson stated:
“Officers made several announcements demanding dispersal, but many refused to comply with orders. We developed a plan and successfully removed the cars from the area after detaining each one for data verification.”
Two Versions of the Event
Participants of the event claim it was a regular car cruise, not an illegal gathering. One attendee said:
“This wasn’t a takeover event; it was a cruise that started in Redwood City and went all around the bay.”
Meanwhile, videos show some cars performing “donuts” in the parking lot.
The police avoided direct answers regarding the number of fines or arrests. It also remains unclear which specific violations they observed to justify their actions. It is only known that one car was confiscated, but no details were provided.
This situation raises questions about the legality of law enforcement’s actions, especially considering the event took place on private property. At the same time, some videos suggest that certain participants may indeed have violated rules by performing stunts. Such incidents often spark debates about the limits of police intervention in public gatherings.
