Police Discovered a Raccoon with a Meth Pipe in Its Teeth During a Car Inspection

Law enforcement officers face unpredictable situations every day. A recent story in Springfield, Ohio, is a vivid example. Police stopped a woman on suspicion of unpaid debts. However, after her detention, events took an unexpected turn.

It turned out that a pet raccoon was in the cabin, which inadvertently helped law enforcement find hidden drug paraphernalia.

Details:

When Officer Brenham returned to the Hyundai car, he saw a raccoon named Chuy in the front seat. But the strangest thing was that the animal was holding a methamphetamine pipe in its teeth. The police officer couldn’t hold back his laughter. “He’s playing with her pipe,” can be heard on his bodycam video.

When the first item was taken away, the raccoon instantly pulled out a second one. “He’s trying to smoke,” Brenham remarked. It seemed the animal really understood how to handle this item. As a result of the search, a significant amount of methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and three used glass pipes were found in the car. The owner of the vehicle now faces corresponding charges.

An investigation is also underway into the legality of keeping the raccoon as a pet. Although Chuy was unaware of his actions, he helped remove dangerous substances from the streets. We hope he will soon find a new owner who will abide by the law.
