Recently, Polestar announced a recall of 27,816 Polestar 2 electric vehicles due to a malfunction of the rearview camera. Now it turns out that Volvo is facing a similar problem, but on a much larger scale – over 413,000 cars in the US require repair.
As reported, in certain models, the image from the rearview camera may not display when reversing. This limits visibility and forces drivers to rely solely on mirrors. Although the problem can be solved by simply checking the mirrors, modern safety standards require the mandatory presence of a functioning rearview camera.
The manufacturer explains the malfunction by a faulty code that, under certain conditions, blocks the image output on the multimedia system screen. It is important to note that the automatic braking systems and cross-traffic warning continue to work even in the absence of an image from the camera.
In total, 413,151 vehicles of various models and production years are subject to the recall, including:
- S60 2023-2025 (manufactured June 2022 – June 2024)
- V60 2023-2025 (May 2022 – June 2024)
- V60CC 2023-2025 (May 2022 – April 2025)
- S90 2022-2025 (June 2021 – January 2025)
- V90 2022 (October 2021)
Also added to the list are:
- V90 CC 2022-2025 (June 2021 – April 2025)
- XC60 2022-2025 (May 2021 – April 2025)
- XC90 2023-2025 (May 2022 – April 2025)
- XC40 2021-2025 (September 2020 – April 2025)

Volvo emphasized that no incidents due to this malfunction have been registered so far. The fix will involve installing updated software, and owners will receive recall notifications starting June 24.
