Over 80 Tesla Cars Damaged in Vandalism at Dealership in Canada

At a dealership in Hamilton, Ontario, a horrific act of vandalism occurred just last week, resulting in damage to more than 80 Tesla cars. Police are reviewing surveillance footage and appealing to the public for assistance in finding the culprits. After Tesla was removed from the list of participants at the Vancouver Auto Show due to security concerns and potential protests, the brand’s situation worsened. The show’s organizers cautiously assessed the risks associated with Tesla’s participation, fearing angry protests and further vandalism. Acts of vandalism against Tesla cars are becoming increasingly worrying and appear to show no signs of abatement.

In a recent attack at a dealership in Hamilton, Ontario, over 80 Tesla cars were damaged, possibly making it one of the largest incidents in terms of the number of vehicles affected. Preliminary information led officers to the dealership located at 999 Upper Wentworth Street, near Upper Sherman Avenue and Mohawk Road East, following reports of widespread car damage on the dealer’s lot. Upon arrival, officers found that more than 80 Tesla cars parked outside had been damaged, including deep scratches, punctured tires, and possibly other forms of vandalism. Police are currently analyzing surveillance footage and calling on the public to help crack the case. Frequent attacks have become well-known, with assaults on Tesla cars and dealerships occurring worldwide, likely fueled by workforce disgruntlement.

There is indeed a disturbing rise in vandalism targeting both private Tesla vehicles and company’s facilities, including dealership centers and Supercharger stations, over the past few weeks. The intensity of the attacks seems to have increased after former U.S. President Donald Trump appointed Tesla CEO Elon Musk to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The aggressive policy of this department to limit government spending, which led to mass layoffs, likely exacerbated tensions. Musk’s controversial tweets on his platform X, which continue to stir the pot, undoubtedly do not contribute to calming the situation.
