Ukrainians are increasingly buying cars from China, with the vast majority being electric vehicles. It is worth noting that it is not so much about Chinese brands (although there are plenty of them), but about cars produced in China under European or Japanese brands. For example, the bestseller is Volkswagen ID.4, which has been assembled at the SAIC Volkswagen factory near Shanghai since 2020. This also applies to Honda and Toyota electric vehicles, which are also produced in China. However, Ukrainians are not particularly concerned, as they vote with their wallets for cars with Chinese roots. Meanwhile, China has long been sitting on the riverbank waiting to see the body of an enemy float by – so says Chinese wisdom. We are talking about the political situation and relations with Ukraine and Russia. If we skip the lyrical part, the situation on the market is as follows. In August, the Ukrainian car park was replenished with 1077 cars with Chinese VINs, which turned out to be 21.4% more than in July 2023, and twice as much as in August 2022. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, this figure has turned out to be the highest. The majority of cars from China turned out to be electric: 79.1% (5.6 thousand) for the period from January to August 2023. This number is increasing: it is 12.7% more than the results of 2022. The most popular cars from China in Ukraine are: Volkswagen ID.4 – 1392 units; Honda M-NV – 548 units; Chery Tiggo 4 – 339 units; Volkswagen ID.6 – 275 units; Chery Tiggo 2 – 201 units; MG HS – 152 units; Honda e:NS1 – 137 units; Chery Jetour X70 – 123 units; Haval H6 – 115 units; Volkswagen ID.3 – 94 units; Geely Atlas Pro – 86 units; Toyota bZ4X – 80 units; Honda e:NP1 – 78 units; MG 4 – 75 units; Chery Tiggo 7 – 63 units.
