Ukrainians increasingly buy electric vehicles despite blackout threat

Despite warnings from the authorities about possible electricity shortages in the fall and winter, sales of electric vehicles continue to grow. Last month, 3841 electric cars were added to the fleet, which is 2.6 times more than in August last year. Most of them are passenger cars – 3764 units (684 new and 3080 used). Only 3 of the 77 commercial electric cars were new. Top 5 new electric vehicles in Ukraine (August 2023): 1. VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 – 275 units; 2. VOLKSWAGEN ID.6 – 58 units; 3. AUDI Q8 e-tron – 40 units; 4. TOYOTA BZ4X – 39 units; 5. HONDA E – 34 units. And although for most Ukrainians VW ID.4 is associated with German quality, in fact, it is “Chinese-made”. By the way, soon this model will become cheaper to $20,000 in the base version (in China). Top 5 used electric vehicles in Ukraine (August 2023): 1. NISSAN Leaf – 505 units; 2. VOLKSWAGEN e-Golf – 422 units; 3. TESLA Model 3 – 361 units; 4. TESLA Model Y – 218 units; 5. RENAULT Zoe – 183 units. As reported by Ukrautoprom, almost 19,900 electric vehicles have been registered in Ukraine since the beginning of the year.
