Hyundai is expanding the Palisade lineup by introducing a new special version, the Black Ink Edition. This flagship SUV has received a fully blacked-out exterior and a powerful hybrid powertrain.
Key features of the new model
Hyundai introduced the Ioniq 9 Performance Calligraphy Black Ink in April, and is now releasing the 2027 Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy Black Ink Edition. This is a blacked-out flagship with an exceedingly long name.
In addition to the complex name, the model has fully embraced the “dark side,” receiving numerous black elements, including the radiator grille and emblems. These are complemented by glossy black elements on the window moldings, roof rails, and wheel rims.

As if that weren’t enough, the model also features dark chrome accents and matte black elements. While the SUV is available in Abyss Black Pearl, Hyundai also offers Creamy White Pearl and Ecotronic Gray Pearl for customers who desire a two-tone look.
Interior and Equipment
The black theme continues inside, where traditional silver accents have been replaced with a “premium black finish.” Hyundai was rather restrained on details but noted that everything from the door handles to the speaker grilles and center console bezels is now black.
Although the cabin looks dark and somber, the SUV should be well-equipped, as the standard Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy features eight-way power-adjustable front seats upholstered in Nappa leather, with heating, ventilation, and a relaxation mode. These are joined by heated second and third-row seats, a heated leather steering wheel, and three-zone automatic climate control.
Buyers will also receive a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, and a 12-inch head-up display. Other nice touches include a 14-speaker premium Bose audio system, a dual-pane panoramic glass roof, a hands-free power liftgate, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.
Powertrain and Price
Power comes from a hybrid system that combines a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a 1.65 kWh battery pack and a six-speed automatic transmission with integrated electric motors. This gives the SUV a total output of 329 hp (245 kW / 334 PS) and 339 lb-ft (459 Nm) of torque. Fuel economy is also expected to be around 31 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 31 mpg combined with front-wheel drive.
The Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy Black Ink Edition will arrive at dealerships later this month, with pricing starting at $59,280 with front-wheel drive and $61,280 with all-wheel drive – including a $1,600 destination fee.
This Black Ink Edition is a logical continuation of Hyundai’s strategy of creating special blacked-out versions of its popular models. It not only adds visual aggressiveness and premium appeal but also highlights the hybrid nature of the Palisade, which is becoming increasingly important in the market. It is worth noting that this approach allows the automaker to offer customers a more personalized choice without significant changes to the production process, which is an effective way to maintain interest in the model amidst fierce competition in the large SUV segment.
