New Drift Project Based on Porsche Macan
FCP Euro has introduced a unique drift car created on the basis of the Porsche Macan. This project features several key characteristics:
Unexpected Transformation of a Crossover
Despite the fact that conventional Porsche Macan versions with internal combustion engines are approaching the end of their life cycle, no one expected the appearance of a drift version of this model. At the annual SEMA Show, the auto parts retailer FCP Euro presented what they call the world’s first Drift Macan – a four-seat drift machine equipped with a V8 engine from Audi.
Exterior and Construction
The car’s exterior clearly indicates its purpose. The crossover sits lower than the standard version, resembling more of a hatchback than an SUV, and has a full racing livery along with a powerful body kit.
Body modifications include an aggressive front spoiler, widened fenders, and a large rear wing. The underbody protection was removed at the rear to showcase the seriously reworked suspension components.
Technical Features
The Drift Macan is set on special three-way dampers and also equipped with a pneumatic jack system from Aston x Moton Suspension. Forged Rotiform wheels with five spokes are installed with serious negative camber on the front axle, hiding the brake kit from 034 Motorsport with red calipers.
Interior and Equipment
Inside, the Macan has been stripped of every extra gram. The interior contains only the essentials: a full safety cage and four individual bucket seats with racing harnesses. Also present are a hydraulic handbrake, a quick-release steering wheel, and a special control panel on the center console.
The Heart of the Project – The Power Unit
The true transformation of the project was the engine replacement. Instead of the standard V6, a bi-turbo 4.0-liter V8 from the 2014 Audi RS7 was installed. The engine was tuned for over 600 hp, for which a new intake system and an upgraded heat exchanger capable of withstanding loads during long drift sessions were installed.
Transmission and Future Plans
All power is transmitted exclusively to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF gearbox, which was modified to simulate sequential shifts and true “clutch kicks” using an electronic clutch pedal.
According to FCP Euro representatives, the TSH Auto team worked on creating the Drift Macan throughout the year. Currently, the model is exhibited at the Hoonigan booth at the SEMA show. After the exhibition ends, the Audi-powered Porsche will begin performances on various US tracks throughout 2026, serving as a drift taxi.
This project demonstrates how deeply a modern crossover can be modified to transform into a professional sports car. The use of an engine from another manufacturer and radical changes in the design emphasize that even cars not intended for drifting can find new life in the hands of enthusiasts. Such projects often become a testing ground for new technologies and engineering solutions that may later find application in series production.
