Porsche’s global deliveries fell by 16% to 123,000 vehicles in the first half of 2026. The electric Macan lags behind the outgoing gasoline model, while demand for the Taycan continues to decline. Deliveries to China dropped by 32%, yet global sales of the 911 rose by 19%.
Overall sales picture
If things do not change drastically for Porsche over the next six months, 2026 will join 2025 in the list of years the German brand would rather forget. Sales fell by 10% last year, and the new half-year figures show a 16% drop in global deliveries to 122,306 vehicles from January to June. Worryingly for Porsche, there is no quick fix in sight.
Success of the 911 model
The brightest spot was the ageless 911. Deliveries jumped by 19%, proving that Porsche’s rear-engine icon remains as desirable as ever. The gradual rollout of new variants, combined with healthy demand for high-performance GTS, Turbo, and GT models, helped the sports car continue flying off dealership lots.

Cayenne’s position
The Cayenne also held onto its crown as Porsche’s best-selling model with 38,141 deliveries, despite a 9% decline. This is particularly notable because the electric Cayenne only began reaching customers at the end of June, meaning it had almost no impact on the overall result.
Situation with the Macan
The picture for the Macan is less rosy. Porsche sold 35,315 units, but nearly 20,000 of those were the gasoline model, compared to only 15,620 electric versions. This is awkward, as production of the gasoline Macan ends this month, leaving the electric vehicle to carry the lineup alone until the new gasoline Macan arrives in 2028.
Taycan and China troubles
The Taycan’s difficulties also persist. Deliveries of the electric four-door coupe fell by another 25% to just 6,219 vehicles, proving that Porsche has yet to stop the electric sedan’s downward momentum despite continuous updates and new technologies. One of the main reasons for the Taycan’s poor performance is waning interest in the Porsche brand in China. Deliveries in the region plummeted by a staggering 32%.

End of 718 production
The discontinued 718 Boxster and Cayman also suffered a predictable 73% drop after production ended last year. This is unsurprising, though we are still waiting for the long-promised electric successors that will eventually replace them. And when they finally arrive, will anyone want to buy them?
Conclusions and context
So, yes, not the best numbers for Porsche, which, like many automakers, has been hit by weaker-than-expected demand for electric vehicles and other factors beyond the company’s control, such as U.S. tariffs and the loss of federal tax credits, contributing to a 13% sales decline in North America. But thank goodness for the 911. The decision to abandon the plan to kill its most iconic model in the early 1980s has never looked smarter.

The one-third decline in China indicates systemic issues with brand positioning in the world’s largest automotive market, where local EV manufacturers offer technologically rich alternatives at significantly lower prices. At the same time, the growth in 911 sales shows that Porsche’s traditional DNA — sports cars with internal combustion engines — remains extremely strong. The company finds itself at a crossroads: its future depends on its ability to convince buyers of the appeal of electric vehicles without losing its historic aura as a manufacturer of iconic sports cars.
