Porsche Gains Access to Supercharger Network, But With an Unpleasant Limitation

Owners of electric Porsches in North America will find it significantly easier to use public charging stations

Starting September 9th, they will gain access to the Tesla Supercharger network, which boasts 23,500 points across the continent. This has been made possible thanks to a new NACS DC adapter.

Terms for Obtaining the Adapter

The newly developed adapter will be provided free of charge to all owners of the 2026 Taycan and Macan Electric. Owners of current 2025 models can also obtain it for free via the My Porsche app. Those who own a 2024 Taycan or older versions will be able to use the NACS DC charging device, but they will have to pay $185 and order it through the Porsche online store or pick it up at an official center.

Start of Network Operation

Access to the Tesla Supercharger network will begin with a trial launch, during which Porsche owners will have to use the Tesla app to activate charging. In the coming months, the ability to do this directly through the My Porsche app will become available. Other stations, such as Ionna and Electrify America with NACS ports, can be activated via My Porsche from the very start.

Navigation System Updates

All relevant Porsche electric vehicles, starting from 2026, will receive integration of the new charging stations into their navigation systems. Older models will be updated “over the air” to display these new charging points.

We are constantly working to ensure that every aspect of Porsche ownership is as convenient as possible for our customers – and this news is an important step for the owners of our electric vehicles. In the coming months, we will add more features to make the process even more seamless.

Why the Adapter is Still Necessary

Interestingly, even in 2026, the Taycan and Macan Electric will not have a standard North American Charging Standard port, so the adapter remains necessary. This is despite the fact that back in 2023, it was confirmed that future electric vehicles from VW, Audi, Porsche, and Scout would use the NACS port starting from 2025.

This step demonstrates how automakers are adapting to growing market demands and striving to provide maximum comfort for their clients. Integration with the Tesla Supercharger network significantly expands charging capabilities, making electric Porsches even more attractive to buyers, especially in regions where public infrastructure is still developing.
