Porsche has unveiled the Mission S concept, which demonstrates the brand’s new design language and a future model with a mid-engine layout. The production sports car will be positioned above the Porsche 911 in the lineup and will become a permanent, rather than limited, model.
Porsche Mission S inherits traits from legendary racing models
The proportions of the Porsche Mission S are designed for a mid-engine layout. The front end is styled with references to the Porsche 911 GT1: the concept has round headlights, large air intakes, pronounced fenders, and ventilation openings on the hood.
A small fan is installed at the rear, its design reminiscent of solutions from the Porsche 917. A large spoiler is integrated into the body, and the lower part is occupied by a massive diffuser. Another detail is four exhaust pipes arranged vertically in pairs.
The interior features elements inspired by the Porsche 356 and Porsche 550 Spyder. Ahead of the driver are five digital instruments, and there is no conventional central multimedia screen. Instead, a retractable smartphone mount with MagSafe is provided.
The Porsche Mission S also has physical switches, bucket seats with racing harnesses, and a carbon-fiber gear lever.
The new Porsche supercar will be positioned above the Porsche 911
Porsche has not confirmed series production of the Mission S in exactly this form. At the same time, the company is officially working on a new mid-engine supercar with the concept’s design solutions.
“Mission S demonstrates the ideas and design features that will shape Porsche in the coming years,” said Michael Leiters, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG.
According to him, the platform is intended for a model above the Porsche 911. The brand’s previous supercar was the Porsche 918 Spyder, while the previously unveiled electric concept Porsche Mission X did not reach series production.
