Porsche Continues to Set Records on Race Tracks

Porsche Sets New Records at Road Atlanta Track

Porsche demonstrated its technical prowess by setting three new records at the Road Atlanta track. The electric Taycan Turbo GT posted the best time among electric vehicles, but the company decided to go further. Their Cayenne Turbo GT became the fastest off-road vehicle, and the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid improved upon the result of the conventional version.

Achievement Details

Professional racing driver Patrick Long drove both models during the record-setting attempts. The Cayenne Turbo GT posted a time of 1:34.38, which is only 7 seconds slower than the electric Taycan Turbo GT, despite having less power.

“When you think about how much braking is a part of high-speed driving, the ability to simultaneously recover energy for acceleration is a huge advantage”

The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, with its new 771 hp hybrid powertrain, posted a time of 1:30.98, which is half a second better than the previous record. Although the additional weight of the hybrid system somewhat diminishes the advantage of the extra power, the driver noted the car’s improved handling on the track.

These results show how Porsche has managed to optimize its models for high speeds, regardless of the type of powertrain. The achievement of the Cayenne Turbo GT is particularly impressive, which, despite its size, posted a time close to that of sports models. The hybrid version of the Panamera demonstrated that eco-friendly technologies can keep up with performance, although engineers still have room for improvement in the area of weight reduction.
