Porsche Accelerates Development of New Compact Crossover with Gasoline and Hybrid Engines

Porsche Changes Strategy: More ICE Vehicles

Porsche acknowledges that its previous strategy, focused on electric vehicles, requires adjustments. Despite the success of models such as the Taycan and Macan Electric, the electric car market is developing more slowly than expected. This has forced the company to review its plans and focus on developing new cars with internal combustion engines (ICE).

Porsche CEO Oliver Blume stated:

“We continue to face significant challenges worldwide. This is not a storm that will pass. The world is changing dramatically, and even differently than expected a few years ago.”

The company plans to introduce a new version of the Macan with an ICE by 2028 and is also considering adding traditional engines to future models, such as the K1.

Global Challenges and the Brand’s Future

Porsche is facing not only challenges in the electric vehicle sector. A significant sales decline in China and new customs tariffs in the US are creating additional difficulties. However, expanding the vehicle lineup, including hybrid and traditional models, could help the company stabilize its market position.

Price increases and cost optimization allow Porsche to minimize financial losses. For buyers, these changes will mean more choice, which is undoubtedly a positive signal. For now, it remains unclear whether the new Macan model will retain its name or receive a new one to distinguish it from the electric version.

The company’s recent decisions demonstrate flexibility in its approach to the future of the automotive industry. While electric vehicles remain part of the strategy, Porsche clearly does not want to lose customers who prefer traditional technologies. This could be the key to overcoming current difficulties and ensuring stable growth in the long term.
