Porsche has unveiled the racing 911 GT4 R for the first time: what are its “features” (video)

Porsche 911 GT4 R

Porsche has officially unveiled the new 911 GT4 R racing car, designed specifically for international GT4 class races. For the first time since 2016, a model in this class is built not on the Cayman platform, but on the Porsche 911 platform. Carscoops writes about this.

The new model will replace the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, of which over 1,500 units have been produced since 2016. Porsche claims that the new 911 GT4 R is capable of posting faster lap times on the track than its predecessor.

The Porsche 911 GT4 R features a naturally aspirated engine producing up to 513 hp.

The car is equipped with a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine, familiar from the road-going Porsche 911 GT3. The maximum power of the powertrain is 513 hp, and peak torque reaches 469 Nm.

At the same time, the actual output depends on the Balance of Performance regulations. In the standard factory configuration, the car is equipped with an air restrictor that reduces power to 424 hp.

The engine works in conjunction with a six-speed sequential gearbox and a four-disc racing clutch. Drive is traditionally sent to the rear wheels.

The Porsche 911 GT4 R features new aerodynamics and adjustable suspension

For the new model, Porsche has developed an upgraded aerodynamic package. The most noticeable element is the large rear wing, which can be adjusted to 11 positions depending on the track characteristics.

Additionally, the car features two-stage adjustable shock absorbers and three spring rate options. To reduce weight, the doors, engine cover, and some aerodynamic components are made from carbon fiber.

The interior features a new 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an integrated telemetry data logger.

Porsche Motorsport will use the new 911 GT4 R in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and SRO Pirelli GT4 America series. The model is also eligible for participation in several other racing championships. In the US market, the base price of the car will start from $375,000, which is equivalent to approximately UAH 15.7 million.
