Portuguese Furia Borrows “Valkyrie” Look and V6 Engine from Detroit for $1.9 Million

A New Player in the Track Supercar Market

For those seeking a mid-engined track supercar, there are plenty of options. You can choose established brands like Ferrari or Lamborghini, or, if the budget allows, something more exotic, such as Pagani or Koenigsegg. There are also alternative options: the KTM X-Bow GT-XR, Czinger 21C, or Praga Bohema. Now, another car joins this list — the Furia.

The Portuguese Answer to the Aston Martin Valkyrie

Information about this unique supercar first appeared several years ago. Created by the Portuguese company Adamastor, it recently underwent testing at the Portimão circuit and can be considered the Portuguese answer to the Aston Martin Valkyrie. However, while the Valkyrie has a special V12 engine from Cosworth, the Furia uses the same engine as the Ford GT.

Visually, it is clear that key design elements of the Valkyrie inspired this car. It features a similar front end and Formula 1-style splitter, bulging wheel arches, small headlights, and exposed suspension components. The overall shape and cockpit size also resemble the Aston Martin. The similarities continue at the rear: a huge carbon fiber diffuser and a simple rear wing.

An American Engine in a European Body

Power comes from the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 from the Ford GT, tuned to deliver 650 hp and 421 lb-ft of torque. While this is a powerful engine, it is not the most exotic option. Nevertheless, it is sufficient to propel the Furia from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.5 seconds and to a top speed of 300 km/h in road-going guise.

The V6 is paired with a sequential gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. It also features powerful brakes from AP Racing and an adjustable double-wishbone suspension. This is a highly focused car, capable of generating up to 1,799 kg of downforce at 250 km/h in track specification.

Visually, the Furia may look like a “poor man’s” Valkyrie, but that doesn’t mean it’s cheap. In fact, the price for the road version starts at €1.6 million ($1.9 million) excluding VAT.

While the Adamastor Furia clearly borrows stylistic solutions from the significantly more expensive Aston Martin Valkyrie, it offers its own unique combination. Using the proven Ford GT engine could be a practical decision, simplifying maintenance and increasing reliability compared to the unique engines of hypercars. For collectors seeking something truly rare and unusual, the limited production run of 60 units and its Portuguese origin make the Furia an intriguing investment. It is not just another supercar, but a statement that even small countries can create world-class automobiles, challenging the established giants.
