Bentley Suspends Export of Some Models to the USA
Bentley has decided to temporarily suspend deliveries of some models to the United States. This applies to cars arriving at dealerships without a prior order. However, vehicles ordered by customers individually continue to be delivered.
As reported, the reason was uncertainties regarding a new trade deal between the USA and the UK. According to the terms, the first 100,000 cars imported from Britain are subject to a 10% tariff, and all subsequent ones – 25%.
“Every British manufacturer is trying to understand the situation,” stated Bentley Americas CEO Mike Rocco.
Currently, Bentley has only about 378 cars left in stock, so a prolonged delay could lead to a shortage. The company is not yet raising prices for orders placed before June, but from July, the cost of cars is expected to increase.
Despite the fact that the new tariff plan provides for a reduction in duties from 27.5% to 10%, this is still significantly higher than the previous 2.5%. For a luxury brand where car prices reach hundreds of thousands of dollars, such changes could significantly impact demand. Especially considering that for the 2025 model year, Bentley raised prices by only 0.5%.
