Citroen has introduced the updated Ami Buggy – a version of the electric car designed for open-air beach driving. The new Ami Buggy, unlike its predecessor, is now part of the updated Ami lineup, ensuring its wide availability. The Ami Buggy was inspired by the concept presented at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, although some features, such as the off-road tires and LED panel, did not make it into mass production. Of course, the electric car inherits the redesigned front and rear of the regular Ami with round lights, as well as the decorative side ribs in style. One of the main differences of the Buggy is the absence of conventional doors, which are replaced by black metal arches on brackets.
This configuration is combined with optional zippered door flaps for rainy weather, as well as a retractable sunroof. Other differences compared to the regular Ami include a prominent rear spoiler and 14-inch steel wheels finished in gold. Unfortunately, the khaki color of the previous Ami Buggy is not available in the new version. With the Palmeira, the flagship Buggy trim, black and yellow decals are added to the fender flares and greenhouse, complementing the yellow emblems. The cabin also features yellow accents, including three storage bins, a bag hook, floor mats, door nets, and a smartphone holder.
Finally, Palmeira buyers receive Andy – a robot figurine with a movable head – installed on the dashboard. The Buggy has not received any updates in performance or chassis compared to the standard Ami. The heavy quadricycle has a top speed of 45 km/h thanks to a single 8 hp electric motor. The retained 5.5 kWh battery provides a range of 75 km and can be charged in 4 hours from a standard 220 V outlet. The expanded lineup of the updated Ami also includes the Ami Cargo LCV and Ami for All modifications.
The light commercial equipment is available as an aftermarket accessory (Cargo Pack), creating up to 340 liters (12 cubic feet) of interior space. In the release, the traditional version is also present, with Citroen offering three color packs – Spicy, Ice, and Mint – for greater personalization. These kits can be installed by the owner, including colored wheel caps, decal sets, and interior accents. Orders for the updated Citroen Ami lineup will begin on May 6 worldwide. Prices start from €7,990 ($9,100) for the Ami and from €8,390 ($9,500) for the Ami Color Pack.
The more adventurous Citroen Ami Buggy costs from €9,590 ($10,900), while the flagship Palmeira trim starts from €9,990 ($11,400). Since the launch of the original Ami in 2020, Citroen has sold 75,000 units in 18 markets.
