Unique Auction Offering
GM Defense, in partnership with the auction house Barrett-Jackson, is offering the Infantry Squad Vehicle–Utility (ISV-U) tactical vehicle to the public for the first time. The ultra-light vehicle, developed in Colorado, will be sold on April 18, with 100% of the proceeds directed to support the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation.
Exclusive Design and Purpose
This unique model features a special livery dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the USA, the Medal of Honor, and the U.S. Army units that use the ISV-U. As seen in the photos, the vehicle is painted in Olive Drab with a black rear section adorned with star graphics.
The open-top, five-seat vehicle is also equipped with a safety cage, underbody protective plates, recovery hooks, and a low windshield. The interior features analog and digital instruments, and powerful BFGoodrich KM3 off-road tires are mounted on 17-inch wheels.
This vehicle was designed to help soldiers accomplish missions in the toughest conditions, and we are proud that its first public sale will directly support the Foundation’s work of caring for recipients, preserving their stories, and inspiring future generations with the values embodied by the Medal of Honor.
Off-Roader’s Technical Features
The ISV-U is built for fast off-road mobility and is equipped with a 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine, reportedly producing 275 horsepower and 569 Nm of torque. The unit is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. The vehicle also features specialized DSSV dampers and electronic locking front and rear differentials, borrowed from the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 pickup.
Limitations for a Private Owner
As this is military equipment, private ownership comes with a number of important restrictions. Most importantly, the vehicle is not certified for public roads and does not comply with federal, state, or local regulations. Furthermore, the ISV-U falls under U.S. export control laws, and the buyer must be a U.S. citizen.
Collaboration Between GM Defense and Barrett-Jackson
The partnership between the auto giant’s defense division and the renowned auction house is a prime example of how modern technologies developed for the military can find an unusual path to the civilian sector, even when it comes to exclusive collector’s items. Such auctions often become not only a source of funding for important social initiatives but also a unique opportunity for technology enthusiasts to own a piece of history. The sale of the ISV-U is a symbolic bridge between the harsh realities of military service and the world of collecting, where rarity, power, and the story behind a machine are highly valued.
