An auto body shop employee turned to Reddit with a question about a secret embargoed car model he was painting

Images Reveal the Mysterious Brabus Bodo 77 Coupe

The German tuning atelier Brabus is working on one of its most exotic projects—a car rumored to be named the Bodo 77. Until recently, it was known only from a few darkened teasers that revealed almost nothing.

However, the situation changed thanks to an unexpected stunt. A Reddit user, who claims to work at a German paint shop that often handles orders for Brabus, took several photos of an unusual two-door car and posted them on the WhatIsThisCar forum, asking if anyone could identify this model.

He had no idea it was the very same Bodo 77—a car that Brabus was clearly not yet ready to show the world. The original post was quickly deleted, and the user even erased his account, but the internet never forgets, and the photos instantly spread to other platforms. Among Brabus’s creations, this car is undoubtedly one of the most interesting.

Design Features and Possible Technical Specifications

Viewed from the front, the Bodo 77 appears to be based on the current Mercedes-AMG SL 63, but with serious modifications. The headlight shape looks familiar, but everything else, including the hood and fenders, looks unique. However, the rear looks even more dramatic.

The new Brabus has almost nothing in common with the standard SL 63, adopting a long-tail design with an elongated rear window, trunk lid, and rear fenders. It also features a custom carbon fiber trunk lid and a unique carbon fiber rear panel. Among other striking elements are complex LED taillights and a quad-tip exhaust system.

This is not the first time Brabus has used the current SL as a basis for its project. In late 2024, the company introduced the Rocket GTS—a shooting brake version of the SL with an upgraded 4.5-liter bi-turbo V8 producing 1000 hp and 1620 Nm of torque. It can be assumed that the Bodo 77 will receive similarly incredible performance figures.

Despite the lack of official details, this leak provides a unique opportunity to peek behind the scenes of exclusive car creation. Such stories remind us how competitive and closed the high-performance tuning industry is, where each new model is not just a modification but a full-fledged, original project claiming collector status. The success of such cars often depends not only on technical specifications but also on the aura of mystery surrounding their creation.
