Stellantis Workers Did Not Receive Bonuses, Unlike Ford and GM Employees Who Received Thousands of Dollars

A Tough Year for Stellantis: Employees Will Not Receive Bonuses

Profit-sharing payments for UAW hourly workers at Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis have significantly decreased after a difficult year for the Detroit Three. As automakers’ profits fell, so did the related payments. For Stellantis workers, the situation looks particularly bleak—they will not receive any bonus.

The agreement between the automaker and the United Auto Workers (UAW) union stipulates that hourly workers are entitled to $900 for each 1 percent of profitability in North America. However, last year Stellantis incurred losses of $2.2 billion in this market, making it simply impossible to calculate a margin.

Impact of Tariffs and Contrast with the Past

The company estimates that tariffs imposed during the Trump administration alone cost it $1.4 billion in 2025. This sharply contrasts with the recent past. After a successful 2024, even before Trump’s return to the presidency, Stellantis paid hourly workers a bonus of $3,780. In total, since the merger of FCA and PSA in 2021, workers represented by the UAW have been allocated over $47,000 in profit-sharing bonuses.

“It is clear that 2025 was very difficult for Stellantis, reflecting the cost of a deep and necessary business reboot to correct past decisions,” the company stated.

The problems have not only affected hourly workers in North America. Stellantis salaried employees in Italy will also not receive a performance bonus this year. The FIOM metalworkers’ union confirmed that the payment for 2025 will be zero.

Situation at Competitors: Ford and GM

Although Ford and GM also recorded a drop in profit last year, their employees will still receive bonuses, unlike their colleagues at Stellantis. Ford employees will receive $6,780 each, significantly less than the $10,200 after 2024. GM will issue profit-sharing checks of $10,500 per employee, which is 28 percent less than last year.

Recovery Plans and Prospects

Stellantis’s new head, Antonio Filosa, called 2026 “our year of execution.” The group plans to increase profitability by introducing more Hemi V8 engines into its lineup, with plans to produce up to 100,000 units this year.

Results began to improve already in the second half of 2025. Vehicle deliveries in North America increased by 39 percent, driven by strong demand for several Ram, Jeep, and Dodge models. Stellantis aims to increase U.S. retail sales this year by 25 percent.

Employees will be watching the situation closely. If Stellantis achieves its goals, profit-sharing payments could return. If not, another year without a bonus remains a very real possibility. The success of these plans will directly impact not only team motivation but also investor confidence and the company’s competitiveness in a market where Ford and GM, despite difficulties, continue to fulfill their obligations to staff. The coming year will be decisive for demonstrating the effectiveness of the new strategic course.
