Seller Refused $64K for a New Dodge Durango Hellcat That Sat for 4 Years

A new 2021 Dodge Durango Hellcat was offered at auction, but it did not meet the minimum reserve price.

Despite several interested parties being willing to pay over $62,000, the seller did not intend to sell the car.

Such a decision might be related to the fact that new ‘Hellrango’ models cost about the same as this one.

Of all the SUVs with three rows of seats, this is one of the most drifted. With 710 horsepower, an all-wheel drive system with enhanced rear-wheel dynamics, and the ability to tow 8700 pounds, this is essentially a muscle car version of an SUV. Over time, it even becomes cheaper — at least according to the free market. However, one seller did not agree with such terms, rejecting a $64,000 offer for a 2021 Dodge Durango Hellcat that sat for almost four years.

This particular Hellcat is almost new, with only 15 miles on it, in essence, it’s a brand-new car still wrapped in the dealer’s factory film. This includes the seats, steering wheel, consoles — basically, everything in it is in brand-new condition.

The Market Is Completely Different Now

Of course, this offer was great, but let’s be honest: the market is not what it was a few years ago. Buyers know this, and most sellers do too. That is why no one was willing to spend over $64,000 to own this Durango, which originally had an MSRP of $91,980 including delivery, when the current owner purchased it in November 2021.

The reserve amount may also be tied to a loan that the seller has not yet paid off for the car. If they purchased it new, there is almost no chance they avoided overpaying for the car. They might still be dealing with the repercussions of such a choice.

So, at $64,000, it is probably not as lucrative a deal as those who recently bought a 2024 model for $31,000 less than the recommended price. Yes, but their car did not sit in a garage or parking lot for almost 48 months, and as already mentioned, it is a completely different market now.
