In April, many automakers showed excellent results, but Subaru was only able to increase sales by 0.3%.
Although the Crosstrek and Forester models demonstrated growth, most other cars of the brand recorded a drop in demand.
The BRZ showed an impressive growth of 85.9%, but in real numbers, this is only an additional 153 sales.
Subaru attracted attention at the auto show, but this hype did not translate into sales. The meager growth of 0.3% looks especially contrasting against the backdrop of double-digit figures from competitors.
One model still stood out – its sales increased by 85.9%. Although it sounds impressive, we are talking about the BRZ, so the real increase is only 153 cars. Bad for the brand, but great for the 331 buyers who got an excellent car.
On the other hand, the Forester continues to conquer the market – in April, its sales increased by 8.3% to 19,330 units. It is followed by the Crosstrek with a growth of 23.2%. The third in the lineup was the Outback, which lost 12.4% of sales.
Speaking of the Outback, Subaru introduced its new version in New York with radical changes. The model abandoned the station wagon body, got a larger trunk and two engines: a 2.5-liter Boxer with 180 hp and an optional 2.4-liter turbocharged engine with 260 hp.
Despite a significant price reduction for 2025, Solterra sales fell by 34.8%. The updated version, presented in New York, is unlikely to fix the situation – an improved powertrain does not compensate for the questionable design.
The WRX is also not having the best of times – sales of this all-wheel-drive sports sedan with 271 hp decreased by 59.1%, which is over 1000 cars. The market is clearly not ready for a car priced at $35,750.
