Honda Prologue Sales Have Tripled This Year

Honda Prologue Sales Have Increased Significantly

In the first eight months of 2025, Honda sold almost 32 thousand Prologue electric vehicles. In total, Honda and Acura sold over 992 thousand cars in the USA. As expected, the CR-V model remains the most popular in the Honda lineup, ahead of the Civic.

Total Sales and Electric Vehicles

Sales of the Honda and Acura brands increased by 4.4% compared to last year, but the most important change is the rapid growth in the popularity of electric vehicles. Sales of Honda’s electrified models increased by more than 50% in the first half of the year, partly thanks to the success of the all-electric Prologue.

Honda’s Position in the Electric Vehicle Market

It might seem from the outside that Honda is lagging in electrification, as it currently offers only one all-electric model in the USA — the Prologue, which, moreover, is developed on the platform of the Chevrolet Blazer EV and other GM models. However, the company offers quality hybrid versions for popular models such as the Civic, CR-V, and Accord. Demand for hybrids continues to grow, which is beneficial for Honda.

Stable Yearly Performance

In the first eight months of 2025, Honda’s American division, including the Honda and Acura brands, sold 992,904 cars across the USA. Out of the total number of cars sold by Honda, 306,252 were electrified, which is 53.4% more than in the same period of 2023.

Rapid Growth of the Prologue

The popularity of the all-electric Prologue has grown even further. In the first eight months of 2024, 10,394 units were sold in the USA, while in the same period of 2025, this figure grew by 207.7% — to 31,982 units. August also proved successful for the Prologue: 9,347 cars were sold, which is 73.1% more than in August 2024. Partially, this growth might be related to the approaching deadline for electric vehicle tax incentives, which ended on September 30th. Overall, Honda’s sales in August decreased by 4.9% — to 121,633 units.

Key Models Remain Leaders

Despite the success of electrified models, Honda’s traditional bestsellers continue to hold leading positions. The CR-V remains the brand’s most popular model: 278,952 units were sold this year, which is 3.7% more than last year. In second place is the Civic with 168,876 cars sold, which is 2.2% less than in 2024.

The growth in sales of electrified models, especially the Prologue, indicates a shift in consumer preferences and highlights the importance of hybrid technologies for the brand’s sustainability. Although traditional models like the CR-V and Civic remain the foundation of Honda’s business, the success of electric and hybrid cars could become a key factor for the company’s future growth in the competitive market.
