Nissan Z sales more than doubled
Sales of the Nissan Z sports car in the second quarter of 2025 increased by 108% compared to last year, reaching 1,635 units. In total, since the beginning of the year, 3,789 cars have been sold, which is 160% more than in the same period of 2024.
These figures significantly exceed the results of the competitor Toyota Supra, which sold only 1,231 cars in the entire 2025 year. However, both models are significantly inferior to the Ford Mustang, which sold 14,174 units in the second quarter.
Technical specifications and variants
The base version of the 2025 Nissan Z starts at $42,970 and is equipped with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine with 400 hp. Available transmission options are a six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic.
The top-of-the-line Z NISMO version priced at $65,750 has 420 hp, a limited-slip differential, an improved braking system, and a refined suspension.
Overall Nissan sales picture
Overall, Nissan sales in the US in the second quarter fell by 6.1% to 209,114 units. The models that lost the most were the Sentra (-36.7%) and the Frontier (-20.3%). At the same time, the electric Ariya and the Murano crossover showed growth of 43.6% and 115.9%, respectively.
Particularly impressive is the drop in sales of the legendary GT-R – only 5 cars were sold in the second quarter, which is 93.2% less than in 2024. This indicates a decline in interest in this model in the American market.
Although Nissan’s overall figures look mixed, the success of the Z model and some crossovers suggests that the company can count on stability in the premium segment. It is especially impressive that the Z is showing growth, despite the general trend of declining demand for sports cars over time. This may be due to the update of the model range and an attractive price-to-quality ratio.
