Porsche Reveals Details of Its Exclusive Paint Services
Porsche has explained in detail the difference between its two programs for individual car painting. The first, Paint to Sample (PTS), allows you to choose a color from an existing library of shades, while Paint to Sample Plus (PTS+) gives you the opportunity to create a completely new color based on any sample provided by the client.
Body and trim use different paints because they’re made from different materials.
Regular metallic paints for the 911 model cost from $830 to $2,980, while the PTS option will cost $14,190. The most exclusive PTS+ service costs $31,070 – almost a quarter of the cost of the base 911 version.
Lead Time for Individual Orders
If a standard PTS paint job adds about three months to the production time, PTS+ requires significantly more time. The process of developing a new color includes testing on a special body and checking under various lighting conditions. On average, this takes about nine months, so some customers may wait for their car for almost a year.
Currently, the PTS+ service is only available for models produced at the Porsche headquarters in Zuffenhausen. Customers can experiment with colors through the online configurator, which features 191 shades from the brand’s historical library.
Interestingly, some colors developed for PTS+ later make it into the main PTS library. This demonstrates how individual customer requests shape the brand’s palette, making it even more diverse for future buyers.
