In Great Britain, a Ford Transit van drove 45 km without two left tires. Its driver turned out to be drunk. The curious incident took place on the A1 highway between the British cities of Newcastle and Hexham. The ambulance driver noticed the Ford Transit swerving onto the road. Sparks and metal pieces flew from under its wheels. Approaching, the driver noticed that the van’s left tires were missing. He called the police, and they stopped the Ford Transit. At that moment, the front tire was completely worn. The police found that the van’s driver, 28-year-old Tony Hollywood, was drunk. The breathalyzer showed twice the legal alcohol limit in his blood. The Ford Transit driver explained that when he left home in Gateshead, all the tires were in place. Along the way, he discovered that two tires had come off but decided to continue driving. Tony Hollywood pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving while intoxicated. He was sentenced to 9 months suspended and 150 hours of community service. Additionally, he was banned from driving for 18 months and will have to retake the driving test.
