What is needed to work as a driver?

The main conditions for employment are having a driver’s license and driving experience (depending on the enterprise). The license must include open categories B for driving a passenger car, or C and D for trucks and buses, respectively. The main advantage of working in the logistics sector is a high salary without significant mental and physical loads. At the start of a career, a driver can earn 20-30 thousand hryvnias, depending on the number of hours worked.

Experienced specialists also highlight the following advantages:

1. Flexible schedule – the employee independently determines working hours and times to start work, but coordinates with the management.
2. Combining with other activities – drivers can take orders for extra money, step out during the day for personal errands.
3. No need for qualification improvement – employees are not required to constantly advance, their driving quality develops as tasks are completed.
4. Opportunity to work with personal vehicle – many drivers find it difficult to quickly adapt to a different type of corporate vehicle, so they can use their own.
5. Cost coverage for technical maintenance – the employer pays for vehicle repairs when parts fail.
6. High demand in the labor market – transport specialists are always needed, so about 100 new job offers are published daily on aggregator sites.

The profession suits stress-resistant, communicative people well, as drivers often have to interact with different types of clients and make quick decisions in emergency situations.

What are the disadvantages of the driver’s profession?

When applying for a job, a candidate must realize the responsibility for the safety of passengers, cargo, and the integrity of the vehicle. A transport specialist must know the road traffic rules perfectly and adhere to them in practice. To avoid accidents, a driver must pay close attention to the road situation, warning signs, and not exceed the speed limit. 

Often, the work schedule becomes unregulated due to the employee’s desire to take as many orders as possible. This leads to chronic stress and fatigue, which can negatively affect concentration and caution levels during trips. Due to the lack of physical activity and a sedentary lifestyle, many drivers start to suffer from excess weight and serious diseases.
