In Ukraine, penalty points for violations of traffic rules have been canceled. The relevant law was supported by 302 members of parliament at the Verkhovna Rada meeting.
The developers of the bill justified its creation with the desire to ensure effective accountability for offenders. Moreover, they believe that this norm negatively affected compliance with Ukraine’s traffic rules, as it was perceived as permission to break the rules without receiving a penalty. The law removed from the Code of Administrative Offenses all norms regarding the accrual of penalty points for offenses recorded automatically.
This includes exceeding the permitted speed limit, running a red light, and other traffic violations. Recall that these points were introduced in 2015.
