by The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedural Codes aimed at toughening the punishment for car theft in Ukraine. The bill was supported by 309 people’s deputies. 
The most interesting innovation is taking into account the cost of the vehicle when determining the perpetrator’s responsibility. Also, fines for car theft will not be applied—only imprisonment for a period from 3 to 5 years. If a car is stolen by an organized group, there is a threat of 8 to 12 years in prison, with or without confiscation.
Also, for altering the numbers of a stolen car, a fine of 17,000 – 20,400 hryvnias has been established, and for disassembling the vehicle – imprisonment for up to 5 years.
