Ram is returning to the high-performance pickup market with the new 2027 model 1500 SRT TRX, aiming to become a direct competitor to the Ford Raptor R. The vehicle has received a powerful updated engine, aggressive design, and significant technological upgrades.
Return of a Legend
The model marks the official return of the SRT brand to the rest of the trucks for the first time since 2006. Ram positions the new TRX as “the most powerful production gasoline-powered light-duty pickup in its class.” This is not just a nostalgic project but a serious claim for leadership.
Heart of the Beast: The New Engine
Contrary to the expectations of many fans, Ram did not simply bring back the old Hemi engine. Instead, engineers developed a completely new version of the 6.2-liter supercharged V8.
This is not just a “tune-up,” but a substantial update.
The engine is equipped with a 2.4-liter twin-screw supercharger and a dual-air intake system that draws cold air through the grille and the hood scoop. This ensures maximum performance and durability. Combined with the updated 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, the pickup accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 190 km/h.
Aggressive Exterior
The TRX’s design immediately reveals its purpose. It features a unique grille with the SRT logo, a hood with a scoop, and LED lighting. The pickup is 173 mm wider than the standard model thanks to flared fenders. The rear is equipped with a steel bumper, darkened taillights, and a sport exhaust system with dual tips.
Prepared for Off-Road
Enhanced off-road capability is provided by a suspension with forged aluminum control arms and adaptive Bilstein dampers. Ground clearance is 300 mm. The pickup also has electronic locking front and rear differentials, activated by a button on the dashboard. Its approach, departure, and breakover angles are: 31.0°, 25.2°, and 16.8°, respectively.
Luxury and Technology in the Cabin
The interior combines a sporty spirit with comfort. It features leather seats with perforated Alcantara inserts, heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The steering wheel is leather-wrapped, and the decor includes real carbon fiber. Technical equipment is represented by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 media system, a head-up display, and a Harman Kardon audio system with 19 speakers.
We are the only manufacturer offering a hands-free driving system in a high-performance gasoline off-roader.
The Hands-Free Active Drive Assist system allows for temporary hands-free driving on suitable roads. Standard equipment also includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and a cross-traffic collision warning system.
Special Edition and Pricing Policy
To mark the model’s return, a special Bloodshot Night Edition series will be offered with two-tone paint, unique graphics, and exclusive interior details.
Sales are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026. The base price of $99,995 makes the TRX $10,935 more affordable than its main competitor, the Ford F-150 Raptor R, giving it significant market advantages.
The return of the TRX with such characteristics and at such a price could significantly change the balance of power in the high-performance pickup segment. This demonstrates that Ram is not just responding to competitors’ challenges but is trying to set new standards for power and equipment. The success of this model will depend not only on technical specifications but also on how reliable and durable it proves to be in real-world operation, especially in the off-road conditions for which it was created. The market has been waiting for a worthy rival to the Raptor R, and now buyers have a real choice.
