Rare 50-year-old electric car found in an old barn

Among retro cars, electric vehicles are rarely found, but they do appear occasionally. In Sweden, a rare Mars II 1969 electric car was found in an abandoned barn. Rare 50-year-old electric car found in an old barn

The Mars electric cars were created in the USA by Electric Fuel Propulsion Corporation. Initially, they converted Renault Dauphine, and Mars II was based on the more modern Renault 10 sedan.

According to various sources, between 42 and 115 Mars II electric cars were produced.

Interestingly, five charging stations were even specially set up for them between Detroit and Chicago.

The Mars II can accelerate to 100 km/h, and its lead batteries provided a range of 110 to 190 km. The electric car could be charged in 46 minutes. Regenerative braking was also provided.

The vintage electric car is in good condition and even its batteries are intact.

A buyer has already been found: it was sold at auction on eBay for $4,850.
