In New York, an abandoned Maserati Merak SS has been discovered. The rare supercar stood in the open air for several decades and was covered with rust, reports Roma Urraco.
And indeed, the model is truly rare – only 1830 cars were produced from 1972 to 1983. The Maserati Merak supercar was positioned as a more affordable and less powerful version of the flagship coupe Bora.
The SS version was equipped with a 3.0-liter 190-horsepower V6 and reached 240 km/h.
The engine was removed from this car, but it has been preserved.
Also included are original mats and a spare tire. An interesting detail: the steering wheel of the coupe is from Citroen (the French brand owned Maserati in the 70s). The car’s mileage is 55,000 km (34,000 miles).
