In Ukraine, a unique LuAZ-1301 SUV has been spotted. Recall that this was an unsuccessful Ukrainian contender to the Suzuki Jimny. The car was sent to Dnipro for restoration.
The new owner of the LuAZ-1301 reports that this is one of the early prototypes released in 1991. The car wandered all over Ukraine – it was in Melitopol, Cherkasy region, and Lutsk. It was in Volyn that the current owner acquired it.
The Ukrainian SUV was supposed to replace the popular LuAZ-969, but it was never put into production in 15 years. A significant part of the units and interior details were borrowed from Tavria.
This car is equipped with a 1.1-liter 51-horsepower engine, although later prototypes were equipped with 1.2-liter engines. Some cars even received air suspension with adjustable clearance. They also created a LuAZ pickup and an extended version for medical care.
The found LuAZ-1301 is not in the best condition. Its transfer case is removed, so it has only front-wheel drive. Moreover, for some reason, they attached the front end from a Tavria to the SUV.
