Rare Mercury Capri Convertible Put Up for Sale in Ukraine (photo)

Mercury Capri is a very rare and little-known car for Ukrainians. This model was produced for a very short time (from 1991 to 1994). This roadster was delivered as a private import by Ford of Australia. How many such cars were produced is unknown. But in Ukraine, there is only one (according to the owner).

And the other day it was put up for sale. The car owner believes he is selling it for a song ($6700). One way or another, the model is really unusual and interesting, especially for our region. Also, in fairness, it should be noted that we looked through the internet and saw that this car was sold in 2020 as well, albeit for $12500.

As for the seller’s words that this car is one of a kind in Ukraine – this is not entirely true. There have been and still are other Mercury Capri cars from the same years in Ukraine…

The compact Mercury convertible has a 2+2 seating arrangement and was created by Lincoln-Mercury to compete with the Mazda MX-5 Miata and Toyota MR2. The 1991 Mercury Capri is equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine producing 100, 116, or 132 horsepower (XR2 version). In the USA, such cars, depending on condition, are priced from $4000 to $8000.

As for the instance put up for sale, one thing is not clear to us, why it has round headlights. As far as we know, Capri 1991-1994 had only one front light option in the popular (in the 90s) style – they are pop-up.
