The Nissan GT-R T-Spec, which had a recommended retail price of $144,000, went for $179,000.
Special versions of the GT-R R35 generation may become collectible items.
This remarkable specimen is painted in Midnight Purple with green leather upholstery.
Even with the rapidly growing number of electric vehicles, the expansion of crossovers in every direction, and artificial engine sounds that strive to sound as realistic as possible, the old-fashioned sports car can still stop you in your scrolling tracks, especially when it’s dressed in Midnight Purple and still has factory packaging.
Earlier this year, Nissan announced, effectively marking the end of this supercar’s existence, which has been on the market since 2007. Although the GT-R is outdated by most conventional metrics, people still adore Godzilla, as confirmed by the auction sale of the new 2024 GT-R T-Spec model with mileage being anything for sale.
The T-Spec models sold in the USA were among the last 2024 year cars that were delivered for the domestic market, and possibly one of the best GT-R versions in its legendary 18-year production period. This particular specimen, in Midnight Purple color, went through a virtual auction on Bring a Trailer practically brand new, with only 29 miles (47 km) of mileage.

As confirmed by Nissan itself, each GT-R goes through a warm-up session at the company’s Tochigi test track before being delivered to the dealer — a “meticulous nine-wheeling session,” according to the brand — so given the 29 miles of mileage, the seller likely either delivered it home right away or drove it very carefully before finally parking it.

, The GT-R has a range of improvements over other models. Among them are 20-inch forged Rays wheels with a gold coating and massive carbon-ceramic brakes. The car is also equipped with adjustable Bilstein dampers and a titanium exhaust system that provides free-breathing possibilities for the iconic 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that delivers 565 hp and 467 lb-ft (633 Nm) of torque.
The T-Spec’s interior is also impressive. The seats are covered in green Mori Green semi-aniline leather substitute with synthetic suede inserts. Green leather is also present on the car’s side panels, dashboard, and steering wheel. You’ll also find large areas of soft black suede and Alcantara trims to complete this look.
Will the R35 Become the Next R34 for Collectors?
A look at the car’s initial showcase catalog shows that it had a recommended price of $144,000, but it was sold for $179,000 on Bring a Trailer. If the original owner skillfully avoided dealer markup, they made a net profit of $35,000. Clearly, someone sees future collection potential in this item, whether it will end up in a climate-controlled closed garage or be lightly driven on sunny weekends.
Will the recent special models of the R35 GT-R appreciate in value as much as the R34 in recent years? This is a million-dollar question, the answer to which we may not be able to provide until time passes. However, we know that although the R35 is undeniably a performance icon, its path to rarity is a bit more complex.
