Renault Megane R26.R auction: a rare hot hatch
The R26.R model was introduced in 2008 as the most radical version of the Megane II RS from the Renault Sport division. It was created with a focus on track performance.
The car set a record among production front-wheel-drive models on the Nürburgring Nordschleife — 8 minutes and 17 seconds. Only 450 such cars were produced in total.
To reduce weight, the car was lightened by more than 120 kg. Specifically, the following were used:
- carbon fiber hood
- polycarbonate windows
- Sabelt bucket seats
- absence of rear seats.
Renault Megane 2009 collectible: history and condition
This specific example with chassis number VF1CM2H9641215314 was initially intended for the UK market, but was redirected to France due to high demand.
The car was used as a demonstrator until 2011, after which it was owned by two collectors. Since 2024, the car has been with its current owner in the Lyon region.
The 9,500 km mileage is confirmed by service history. The body is finished in black, which is rare for this model, as it was more often ordered in lighter shades.
