This symbolic and insightful look was exactly what Nicolas Jardin wanted to reproduce on the Renault 5 prototype, which anticipates the future electric model that will succeed the R5 and has already made a name for itself. Without retro features, the prototype immediately demonstrates recognizable genes of its iconic ancestor.
“Working on the prototype did not provide much freedom. It was about rethinking the R5 and projecting it into the future to modernize this object,” says Nicolas Jardin.
As a result, the car received a smile and slightly squinted eyes. As for the rectangular daytime running lights at the bottom, reminiscent of additional fog lights of that time, they are mounted in a bumper of the same color as the body, as was done back then.
