Renault has created a service van that looks like a regular car

Renault presents commercial versions of the R4 E-Tech electric crossover

Renault has announced commercial modifications of the R4 E-Tech electric crossover called Societe. The model is offered in two variants: Societe Reversible and Societe Van, which are aimed at professional users in France. They combine the practicality of light commercial transport with the everyday advantages of the standard version.

Exterior and design

The exterior appearance of the Societe versions is practically no different from the passenger model. The rear window remains transparent and is not replaced by a blank panel, which helps reduce production costs. However, this means that Renault did not implement the more van-like style that was presented in the 2021 concept inspired by the classic Renault 4 Fourgonnette.

Interior and practicality

The car’s interior has been redesigned for work needs. The rear seats have been replaced by a solid platform with anti-slip coating, fastenings, and a partition that separates the cargo compartment. The total volume of the luggage compartment is 1,045 liters, with an additional hidden compartment under the floor with a volume of 55 liters. The length of the loading space reaches 1.20 meters, and the maximum payload capacity is 345 kilograms.

The conversion is performed by the company Qstomize at the Ampere Manufacture plant in France. The Societe Reversible is classified as passenger transport, while the Societe Van is classified as a light commercial vehicle with tax benefits, but with speed restrictions. These models are designed for craftsmen, couriers, service companies, rental fleets, and corporate clients.

Technical specifications

The car is equipped with a single electric motor with a power of 148 hp, powered by a 52 kWh battery. The WLTP range is up to 409 kilometers. Charging from 15% to 80% at an 11 kW station takes just over three hours, while at a 100 kW fast charger it takes about 30 minutes.

Prices and options

In France, the price for the R4 E-Tech Societe starts from €29,300 for the Evolution version and €30,900 for the Techno (excluding VAT). Buyers can receive government subsidies of up to €5,060 depending on the configuration. Additional options, such as body colors, roof rails, winter tires, a hands-free trunk, driver assistance systems, and a Harman Kardon audio system, can significantly increase the cost.

Renault Built A Work Van That Doesn’t Look Like A Work Van

This model demonstrates how manufacturers are adapting electric vehicles for various market needs while maintaining an attractive design. The combination of style, functionality, and eco-friendliness makes it an interesting proposition for businesses, especially in the context of growing demand for sustainable transport solutions. Given the trends towards the electrification of commercial transport, such initiatives could become key to expanding market presence.
