US sanctions force Russia to use computer chips from imported dishwashers and refrigerators in its military equipment. This was reported by The Washington Post referring to the words of US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.
“We have reports from Ukrainians that when they find Russian military equipment on the ground, it is filled with semiconductors that the Russians have taken from dishwashers and refrigerators”, said Raimondo during a Senate hearing, noting that she recently met with the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

According to Raimondo, the export of American technology to Russia has fallen by almost 70 percent since the start of sanctions in late February. Three dozen other countries have adopted similar export bans, which also apply to Belarus.
“Our approach has been to deny Russia technology to undermine their ability to continue military operations. And that’s exactly what we are doing”, she said.
