Rare Spyker Supercar with Ukrainian Plates Spotted in Holland (photo) en

Only 25 of these cars were produced worldwide! It is a very exclusive Spyker C8 Laviolette Basic Instinct 2 Edition. This is a rare Dutch-made model dedicated to the movie ‘Basic Instinct 2’.

This model was chosen to participate in the filming of this film and it is on this car that Sharon Stone is remembered by many men in a very explicit scene…

As for the Ukrainian model of the Dutch exclusive, it was brought to Ukraine in the first year of TopGir’s creation – back in 2008.

This Spyker C8 Laviolette Basic Instinct 2 Edition has the serial number “08” (out of the total run of 25 pieces) and, attention, it could not find an owner in Ukraine for almost 10 years! The long-suffering Spyker received registration in 2016. Before this moment, it either stood in a dealership or occasionally appeared at various automotive events.

Why couldn’t such a rare car find a buyer for so long? Firstly, the price. Upon arriving in Ukraine, it was put up for sale for almost a quarter of a million euros. As for a car of a brand that was still little known in Ukraine at that time (and even now few ordinary Ukrainians know about it), it was a very impressive price tag. Over the years, the car aged and eventually depreciated significantly. And although it is not known exactly how much the Kyiv citizen bought it for, we know for sure that it was several times cheaper than the initial cost.

Before the war, Spyker rarely appeared on the roads, and with the beginning of the war, it disappeared from sight altogether, like most luxury cars in Ukraine. And just recently, the supercar was spotted in its historical homeland, in the Netherlands…

Specifications of Spyker C8 Laviolette

For those who are not in the know, a few words about the company. Since the merger of the Spyker company in 1914 with the Dutch Aircraft Factory, the Spyker logo began to consist of an aviation propeller and a wheel. The axiom Nulla tenaci invia est via – for the tenacious, no road is impassable – became the motto for Spyker. The aviation and racing heritage of the first cars was carried over to today’s Spyker cars, whose design was greatly influenced by aircraft and aerodynamics. Their uncompromising engineering was designed for racing. All cars are still produced only by hand, using high-quality materials ordered specifically for each car.

And now for the sad news: in 2014, the Dutch businessman, founder of Spyker Cars, declared it bankrupt. But in the summer of 2020, Spyker passed into the hands of Russian businessmen – Boris Rotenberg and Mikhail Pessis. However, already in 2021, Spyker declared itself bankrupt. And, don’t laugh, at the beginning of 2022, Victor Muller, who is still considered the head of the company, again announced the revival of the brand. And again, supposedly with the support of Russian businessmen, but that was in January, so who knows how the dialogue went after that…

P.S. Besides this specimen, there is another one in Ukraine – a chromed Spyker. Or maybe it was… as there is information that initially, the car was in Kyiv, then it was resold to Dnipro. And then, according to rumors, it was taken either to Crimea or abroad.
