The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 in the 3LZ Z07 trim with the company’s 70th-anniversary package was sold at auction for $133 thousand, although its original price was $161,675. This is one of the best Corvette variants: it is equipped with a powerful 5.5-liter V8 engine that produces 670 hp and accelerates the car to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds.
Despite the low mileage and exclusive options, the auction did not cause a frenzy. Only 10 bids in the final hours raised the price from $115,600 to the final amount. For comparison, just a year ago such cars were sold with a markup, but now the situation has changed due to increased production and the emergence of new models, such as the ZR1.
“These cars are not investments. The real value is in the pleasure of driving them,” remarked one of the auction commentators.
The market is changing rapidly, and now owning such a car brings more emotions than financial benefits. The manufacturer emphasizes that it will produce as many Corvettes as it can, so hopes for a quick profit from resale are futile. Perhaps it’s just time to get behind the wheel and enjoy the powerful engine and dynamics offered by this legendary model.
