Rare Bentley Continental SC Goes Up for Auction
The automotive world is preparing for the sale of a unique Bentley Continental SC coupe, also known as the Sedanca Coupe. This model, released in a limited series back in 1999 and based on the Continental R, still looks impressive even decades later.
The main features of the car, which will be sold with no reserve at the RM Sotheby’s auction in Miami, are:
Car’s Exterior and Interior
The car, finished in classic black, features the characteristic radiator grille, red Bentley badges, and chrome accents. 18-inch alloy wheels complement the sporty look. However, the main “feature” is the roof. The two glass panels can be completely removed and stored in a special compartment in the trunk, transforming the coupe into a car with sensations close to a convertible. To increase body rigidity, engineers used some components from the Azure model.

The car’s interior is in perfect condition. It features heated leather seats, walnut wood trim, metal inserts, and an Alpine audio system with a CD changer.
Technical Specifications and Auction
Under the hood of this rare Bentley works an eight-cylinder engine that propels the heavy coupe to 60 mph (96 km/h) in approximately six seconds, with the top speed limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). This particular example is one of 73 standard Continental SC models produced (another six were created by the Mulliner coachbuilding division). Its origin is the Canadian market, making it even more unique for American collectors.
A price of a quarter of a million dollars or more may seem high, but it corresponds to the cost of a new Continental GT. However, unlike modern cars, this vehicle is a piece of the brand’s history that preceded the model which put Bentley back on the automotive world map. The low mileage and perfect condition only increase its investment appeal. Such auctions often serve as an indicator of the value of classic and limited models, demonstrating that rare cars with a rich heritage can compete in price with modern luxury newcomers.
