New Borealis Signature Color for Rivian
The electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian has introduced a new signature color called Borealis. It is a rich, deep shade of purple, inspired by the Northern Lights phenomenon. The new paint is already available for order on the R1S crossover and R1T pickup in the Tri and Quad configurations.
The purple palette is not the most popular in the automotive industry, but when implemented with quality, it looks simply stunning. Based on the first images, this color particularly advantageously emphasizes the shapes of the R1S crossover. The Borealis color is a paid option, costing $3,000, which is equivalent to other premium paints from Rivian, such as Red Canyon or Rivian Blue.
The company has not yet confirmed whether this color will appear for the more affordable Dual Standard and Dual configurations. This decision will likely depend on the demand for the novelty among buyers.

The new purple color looks especially impressive when combined with the available 20- and 22-inch polished bronze wheels. Adding bright blue brake calipers to this gives the car a very expressive and individual look.
Special Lease Offer
In addition to the new color, Rivian also announced a special bonus lease program for future owners. A $5,000 bonus applies to select 2026 models, including the R1S and R1T in Tri, Dual Standard, and Dual configurations with a large battery and Performance Upgrade package. This offer is valid for those who receive the vehicle by December 31, but only while supplies last.
Even with the bonus, leasing Rivian vehicles remains quite expensive. For example, for the R1T Dual Standard pickup with a price of $72,990, the monthly payment is $709 for a 36-month contract, with a first payment of $8,604. This is an effective monthly rate of about $948, to which transportation fees and taxes are still added.
The offer for the R1S Dual Standard crossover is slightly more advantageous. Its lease involves a payment of $699 per month with a first payment of $3,594, resulting in an effective rate of about $798 monthly.
The introduction of the new color and special lease terms comes shortly after the announcement of the limited Miami Edition. Such steps indicate the company’s active marketing strategy aimed at updating the model range and maintaining buyer interest. The introduction of bright, emotional colors like Borealis helps the brand stand out in the electric vehicle market, which is often criticized for being too conservative in its palette. The financing terms, despite their high cost, could become an additional incentive for those hesitating to purchase, offering an alternative to direct credit. The success of the new paint among customers may later influence the color’s availability for the entire lineup, which is a common practice for testing demand for new solutions.
